Airbus A320neo
The new-engine-option version of a narrow-body airliner family: the workhorse of short and medium-haul routes.
Overview
The A320neo is the new-engine-option update of the long-serving A320 family. The "neo" name points to exactly that: the fuselage and cabin architecture are largely retained, while the engines and wingtip aerodynamics aim to improve fuel efficiency.
"Narrow-body" refers to a cabin with a single aisle. That layout limits door count and ground-handling time, but it makes fast turnarounds on short routes easier and raises the number of daily flights an airline can schedule.
Another defining trait of the family is that different fuselage lengths can be flown on a common type rating. That simplifies training and crew planning — an operational advantage that often outweighs technical specifications in fleet decisions.
