The A350 is a wide-body airliner family designed for long-range routes. Its fuselage is largely composite, and the wing shape and engine choice prioritise fuel efficiency over long distances.
Long range shapes the design beyond the cabin as well. Crew rest areas, cargo volume and redundancy in backup systems are a different order of arrangement demanded by flights beyond ten hours; the logic of a short-haul aircraft does not carry over.
The family's different fuselage lengths let airlines fly varying capacities on a common type rating — an operational advantage that can outweigh technical specifications in fleet planning.
