Overview
The H145 is a twin-engine light-medium helicopter. Two turbines offer a greater safety margin than single-engine designs; permission to fly over cities and water often depends on exactly that difference.
The reason it became common in air ambulance work is the cabin layout: rear loading and a flat floor make it possible to carry a stretcher and the crew together. In a mission helicopter, the shape of the interior can matter more than raw performance.
A shrouded tail rotor arrangement instead of an exposed one makes a safety difference for ground crews. Many decisions in helicopter design reveal themselves not in flight but in the minutes spent on the ground.
