Overview
Flexity is a low-floor tram family working on urban lines. What separates a tram from a metro is that it does not reserve its own path: the vehicle shares a surface with traffic and pedestrians.
That sharing shapes the design. Braking distance, field of view and audible warning produce a different list of priorities than a vehicle running in a closed tunnel; here speed is a constraint rather than a target.
A low floor gives access without raised platforms at stops. Thanks to a modular structure, different lengths of the same family can be matched to different passenger densities — the vehicle can change while the infrastructure stays fixed.
