Azimut Grande 27M
A motor yacht: an approach to the sea that puts speed and interior volume first, entirely unlike sail.
Overview
The Grande 27M is a yacht driven by engine power. Unlike sailing boats, its course and speed are independent of the wind; in exchange, range is tied directly to fuel capacity and consumption. That dependence explains why hull form is so decisive in motor yacht design.
Interior volume in this class increases markedly compared with sailing yachts. Without constraints such as a mast and keel, the cabin layout allows freer architecture, and living areas typically move up to the main deck level.
Composite construction sets the balance between weight and strength at this size. A lighter hull means either a higher cruising speed for the same power or lower consumption at the same speed — much of the design revolves around that trade.
