A freighter whose nose-loading fuselage produces an architecture wholly unlike a passenger aircraft.
Overview
The 747-8F is the freighter version of the 747 family. The upper deck, the family's most recognisable feature, lifts the cockpit above the main deck, which lets the nose swing up like a hatch so long loads can be driven straight in.
For freighters the measure is not seats but volume and floor strength. How a heavy load is distributed across pallets determines the aircraft's centre of gravity; here the loading plan is a flight-safety matter, not a logistics detail.
Air freight is expensive and therefore selective: what it carries is either time-critical or highly valuable for its volume. The aircraft's design is the physical expression of that economy.
