Overview
The Brompton is defined by a three-stage folding sequence. At the centre of the design lies not riding but the folded volume and portability: the vehicle's value is measured by its size when not in use.
It is one of the answers to the "last mile" problem in transport. A vehicle that can board public transport like a passenger removes the parking and theft problems together.
Small wheels are less forgiving on rough surfaces and sharpen steering response. Those concessions made for foldability are the accepted constraints of the class.
