Overview

Citation covers a broad family in the business jet class. What this class sells is not speed: it is flying without a timetable, using small airports and never waiting for a connection. The time saved is usually gained on the ground, not in the air.

In small jets the design constraint is cabin cross-section. The difference between a cabin you can stand in and one you cannot comes down to a few centimetres of fuselage diameter, and it sets the price class directly.

Short-field performance is decisive here. As the number of reachable airports grows, so does the aircraft's promise; a business jet's value is measured less by the aircraft than by how many points it can reach.
