A single-handed racing dinghy where, because the boats are identical, only the sailor makes the difference.
Overview
ILCA is a single-handed sailing dinghy class. The class rule is that the boats are identical: hull, mast and sail are standard and may not be modified.
That one-design rule changes what racing means. Because winning through equipment development is impossible, the result is decided by trim, reading the wind and physical endurance. The approach is common in Olympic classes.
Balance is established by a constantly moving sailor. The boat's small size does not forgive mistakes, but it accelerates learning: every decision produces immediate, direct feedback.
