Overview
The Lagoon 46 is a twin-hulled cruising sailboat. What separates a catamaran from a monohull is that it establishes stability through the beam between two hulls rather than through ballast in a keel.
The most visible consequence is that the boat does not heel appreciably while sailing. Moving about on deck and living aboard become easier, and on long passages that is a question of fatigue more than comfort.
In exchange, a catamaran needs far more marina space than a monohull of the same length and behaves differently when sailing to windward. Choosing a boat is largely about where you place that trade between performance and liveability.
