Overview

The Actros is a heavy commercial tractor unit built for long-distance freight. Competition in this class is decided less by power than by total operating cost: fuel, service intervals and how much time the vehicle spends off the road.

One of its notable features is the use of a camera-and-screen solution in place of mirrors in series production. The aim is not only aerodynamic gain but smaller blind spots; in heavy vehicles, field of view is directly a safety matter.

In long-haul tractors the cab is as much the driver's living space as it is part of the vehicle. Bunk layout, climate control and noise insulation determine the quality of rest, and a tired driver is a risk no equipment can offset.
