Overview
A shared electric scooter is a two-wheeled micromobility vehicle ridden standing. Mechanically it is a simple machine; the real complexity belongs to fleet management and the relationship with the city.
Small wheels and a short wheelbase amplify risk on broken surfaces. Accident statistics therefore depend on infrastructure quality and where the vehicle is ridden more than on its speed.
Shared use turns the vehicle's life into a different question: durability is now measured against the behaviour of hundreds of users rather than one.
