Overview

Vectron is a family of electric locomotives able to work with different countries' supply voltages and signalling systems. The real obstacle to crossing borders on European railways is not track gauge but this technical diversity.

A multi-system design removes the need to change locomotives at the border. The gain is not only time but simpler operation: one machine, one crew, an uninterrupted service.

A locomotive carries neither passengers nor freight itself; its job is to pull. That distinction is also the basis of the difference from distributed-traction trainsets.
