Overview

Offshore support vessels serve platforms and wind turbines. What distinguishes the class is not passage-making but station-keeping: the ship must remain at the same point despite waves and current.

A dynamic positioning system provides that. Satellite position and environmental measurements continuously steer the thrusters; staying fixed without anchoring is the only option in water that is not shallow.

An inverted bow form aims to cut through waves and reduce heave. Keeping the crew from fatigue and allowing deck work to continue is a question of operating hours in this class, not comfort.
